St. Mary Magdalen Lenten Mission
Ever wonder why bad things happen to good people?
The St. Mary Magdalen Lenten Mission will be presented by special guest Fr. Jim Brady, Associate Pastor of St. Michael the Archangel in Crowley. Fr. Brady practiced law in Lafayette and later entered the seminary. He was ordained to the priesthood in 2006 and later received a Licentiate in Canon Law in 2009. The Lenten Mission is entitled, “The Nature of Suffering” and will be presented within the context of Mass each evening. The mission will explore the nature of suffering, including the origin of suffering, how suffering is redeemed by Jesus Christ, and how we process suffering in our lives by configuring our suffering to Jesus. More specifically, the mission will try to answer these common questions- If God is all good, why do people suffer? What does it mean to “offer up” suffering? Why do bad things happen to good people, and good things happen to people we think are bad?
Fr. Brady will speak at all weekend Masses to introduce the Lenten Mission and then the mission will continue for the next two evenings at 6:30 p.m. The mission will begin the weekend of March 20th & 21st and continue on Monday, March 22nd and Tuesday, March 23rd. All are invited to join us for this event!
